In a significant step towards harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive innovation and economic growth, the Maharashtra government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is set to unveil the state’s first dedicated AI Policy. Minister of Information and Technology Ashish Shelar announced the formation of the AI Policy Taskforce that will help Maharashtra develop AI Policy 2025.
The initiative is part of the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP government’s ambitious 100-day action plan to foster technological advancement and economic progress. This pioneering move aims to position Maharashtra as a leader in the rapidly evolving AI-based industry, complementing India’s larger digital economy goals.
“AI will play a key role in shaping India’s $600 billion digital economy, with Maharashtra’s digital economy accounting for an estimated more than ₹6 lakh crores,” informed minister Shelar adding, “Our Artificial Intelligence Policy will catalyze this growth and propel Maharashtra towards achieving its ambitious goal of a $1 trillion GDP in the coming years.”
The Maharashtra’s AI Policy will be aligned with the Government of India’s IndiaAI Mission Policy, building on its framework while leveraging Maharashtra’s unique entrepreneurial energy and dynamism.
