Umesh Patil | Rohit Pawar Ploy to Hand Industrialists MIDC Plot In The Name of Providing Employment
Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) chief spokesperson Umesh Patil said Karjat-Jamkhed MLA Rohit Pawar is trying to hand the MIDC land to the millionaire industrialists and cheat the farmers under the pretext of proviing employment opportunities. Patil was speaking at a press conference held on Thursday.
“Is the MIDC planned in the same city to provide youth employment or to appease certain traders and indusrialists? If we look for the reason why Pawar specifically chose one destination for MIDC, a huge land scam will be unearthed,” Patil said.
As many as 458 hectares or 1,200 acres of land will be acquired in Karjat-Jamkhed’s Pategaon and Khandala areas. Most of them belong to landlords and farmers. “Some are ready to give the land while some villages are opposed to it. People are of the opinion that the land belonging to some villages are fertile land and should not be used for such purpose. Still, Rohit Pawar insists on the very land for MIDC. This is a ploy to benefit the industrialists who bought the place from the farmers at a meagre price and deprive them of their due remuneration,” Patil said.
Patil also stated that international wanted criminal Nirav Modi has six to seven parcels of land bought in the Pategaon and Khandala villages. “Have the people elected Rohit Pawar only to compensate Mahajan, Agarwal, Poddar, Chheda, Khanna, Jain, Shetty, and Mehta?” he asked.
Patil added that Pawar is aware of the fact that a land cannot be purchased at a rate costlier than the edited land rate. “Even then the land was purchased in the year 2021-22. If he really cares for youth employment, then why did he insist on the same plot for MIDC despite opposition from them? His true colours are now out in the public,” he said.

Patil said that while it is not unheard of that plots are being purchased before the proposed MIDC is set up. “But the way the picture is being painted is not right. The pretext that all this is done for the betterment of the stakeholders, the original farmers, and youth employement when they are not really compensated and instead being beneficial to the industrialists and billionaires. The people of Maharashtra now know the true face of Rohit Pawar,” he said, adding that the party has demanded to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister that an SIT probe should be launched and thoroughly investigated upon.
