Sunil Tatkare | Won’t Tolerate Injustice Towards Traditional Fishing Community

Sunil Tatkare | Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State President and candidate for Raigad Lok Sabha Constituency MP Sunil Tatkare warned that injustice against fishermen community engaged in traditional fishing for centuries will not be tolerated. He was speaking at a public meeting held in Rajpuri Panchayat Samiti Gana in Murud Taluka of Alibaug-Murud Vidhan Sabha Constituency on Tuesday.

“Mahayuti is committed to doing whatever is required of us to safeguard the traditional business of our fishermen brothers’ community. The tourism economy and employment will increase in future. We are building a jetty so that enthusiasts and tourists can come to witness the glory of the historic Murud-Janjira Fort. Necessary infrastructural steps are taken to ensure that. It is our promise that there will not be injustice towards the fishing community and will be duly compensated,” Tatkare said.

Tatkare claimed the area will wear a new look once infrastructure is in place. “During these changes, the native should be seen prominently. Many projects keep coming up but we ensure that 100% of the native sons of the soil of Rajpuri will always have the first say,” he said.

Tatkare informed that through Mahayuti, Rs 1000 crore worth of work is going on for a state-of-the-art jetty. “Fishing business will remain safe. Cold storage will be set up through the state government. Fishermen contribute to as many as Rs 1000 crore in foreign exchange. Under the Sagarmala Scheme, PM introduced a never-seen-before initiative called Pradhan Mantri Matsya Yojana. The scheme grants subsidies to many individual beneficiaries and jetties. I am at your service and promise to bring the scheme to Rajpuri,” he said.
