Marathi film Satyashodak has been exempted from State Goods and Services Tax

The decision to approve the refund of State Goods and Services Tax levied under the State Goods and Services Tax Act to the Marathi film Satyashodak was taken in the Cabinet meeting held today. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gave instructions on this occasion to organize a special play for officers and employees to watch this film promoting education and social motivational thoughts.
Satyashodhak is a Marathi film promoting the values of education and social equality. The film depicts the life of Mahatma Jotiba Phule and Krantijoti Savitribai Phule, their invaluable contribution and hard work for the education of women and untouchables. In this way, an attempt has been made through this film to convey the right social message to the masses.

Considering the educational and socially inspiring aspects of the film, as an incentive to make it accessible to all, the Cabinet meeting held today directed the theaters to pay the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) applicable on the ticket price of the film to the state exchequer without any recovery from the audience till April 30, 2024. Approved. The refund of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) paid to the government exchequer on ticket sales was approved at this time.
