Samsung introduced generative AI model ‘Goss’ to compete with ChatGPT

To compete with ChatGPT, Samsung launched the generative AI model Gauss. The company launched it at its annual tech conference. Meanwhile, the company showcased the latest updates to software and services, including a new generative artificial intelligence (AI) model, Samsung Goss. At the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) Korea 2023 in Seoul, South Korean tech giant Samsung introduced Gauss and its three sub-models – Gauss Language, Gauss Code and Gauss Image – and plans to integrate them into products to improve customer experience.

Samsung Goss, unveiled at the company’s AI event last week, aims to increase worker productivity by simplifying tasks such as composing emails, summarizing documents and translating content, news agency Yonhap reported. The AI model is expected to be implemented in Samsung’s upcoming smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S24.

“Beyond just understanding and generating language, Samsung Goss will enhance user-device interaction,” said Lee Ju-hyung of Samsung Research’s Global AI Center in a keynote speech. “With this technology, we hope users will have a more convenient and personalized experience,” he said. And they can do more creative things with our devices.

Samsung also introduced advanced rich technology and customer experience enhancements, including knowledge graph-based data intelligence, Mobile Galaxy UI features, development of the Tizen platform, and enhanced connectivity experiences for Tizen-based screen products. Threats and opportunities of AI on software security and Samsung’s open source activities were also discussed during the two-day event.

Started in 2014, SDC is an annual event that brings together thousands of developers, content creators, and designers to discuss future technologies and services. At this event, Samsung is unveiling its upcoming technology and software vision.
