Defense Ministry | The Ministry of Defense signed a procurement contract worth Rs 39,125 crore with five companies

To strengthen the Make in India campaign, the Defense Ministry has entered into procurement contracts worth Rs 39,125 crore with five companies. The agreement was signed in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane.

A contract has been signed with Hindustan Aeronautics for procurement of aero engines for MiG-29 aircraft, while two separate contracts have been signed with Larsen & Toubro Ltd for procurement of high capacity radar systems and anti-surrounding weapon systems.

Two contracts have been signed with Brahmos Aerospace Pvt Ltd for procurement of Brahmos missile and Brahmos sea-launched missile. The Defense Ministry has said that these agreements will strengthen indigenous manufacturing capacity, save foreign exchange and reduce dependence on foreign manufacturers for procurement.
