Stock market : Increase in investor wealth by Rs 82 lakh crore in 2023
Stock market closes on December 29, 2023: The stock market bids farewell to the year 2023 on a big note. In the last trading session of the year, the Sensex-Nifty closed lower but the mid-cap and small-cap stocks remained in the green as seen throughout the year. BSE Sensex closed down 218 points at 72,186 points, while Nifty closed down 47 points at 21,230 points.
In the last trading session of 2022, the Sensex closed at 60,840 points on December 30, which closed at 72,240 points today. That is, Sensex has increased by 18.73 percent in one year. While the Nifty closed at 18,105 in the last session of 2022, which closed at 21,731 in the last session of 2023. Nifty has gained 3625 points or 20 percent in a year.
Market cap at record high
The market cap of BSE-listed companies closed at a record high in the last trading session of the year. In today’s session, the market cap of listed companies touched Rs 364.05 lakh crore, as against Rs 363 lakh crore in the previous session. When compared to the last trading session of the year 2022, investor wealth has increased by Rs 82 lakh crore. The market cap in the last session of 2022 was Rs 282.44 lakh crore.
