Chasing a modest target of 230 runs set by India, England scored 17 runs for no wicket in the first two overs. It looked like England could easily reach the target after that, but Jasprit Bumrah then gave England their first blow by dismissing David Malan for a total of 30 in the fifth over. Bumrah also dismissed Joe Root on the very next ball. Thus England lost two wickets for 30 runs.

Thus the entire English team was all out for 129 runs.
