India will become the world’s largest exporter of pomegranates

India has sent its first commercial shipment of pomegranates to the US by sea. Rajesh Aggarwal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Abhishek Dev, Chairman, Apeda, through Apeda, the Agri-Processed Foods Export Development Authority at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, gave the green light to this commercial consignment.

Four thousand two hundred boxes of about twelve and a half tons of pomegranates have been sent to America. These pomegranates are produced by Anarnet registered farmers in Sangola, Maharashtra. India is the world’s largest producer of pomegranates, and now the country aims to become the world’s largest exporter.
